Boys Track Team Tops Lynn Classical

The Revere High boys indoor track team got its season off on the right foot with a 54-32 win over Lynn Classical last Wednesday.

The Patriots were led by six first place finishers out of the nine individual events: Paul Rizzo in the 55 meter high hurdles in 9.3; Breni Guzman in the 300 in 40.4; Michael Fitzpatrick in the 600 in 1:32.8; Robert Rose, who led a sweep in the 1000 in 3:17; Kristi Nushi in the mile in 5:29.3; and Ernesto Bonilla in the two mile in 11:27.

The Pats showed their depth with seven second place efforts in the nine events to tally 21 points: Vinny DiChiara with a high jump of 5-3; Vito Licata with a toss of 38-4.25 in the shotput; Albion Lici in the 55 meter hurdles in 9.8; Devin Colon in the 55 dash in 7.2; Andrew Estrata in the 600 in 1:46; Mohamed Bensadok in the 1000 in 3:22; and William Truong in the mile in 5:30.9.

Adding single points to the Revere score sheet for third place finishes were Luis Morales in the 1000 in 3:22; Omar Morales in the shotput with a heave of 37-3.25; and Brian Collins in the two mile  in 12:27.

“We had 130 boys sign up for the program and we took 95 to the meet against Classical,” said RHS head coach Jack Mosko, who noted that his team turned in many fine performances, led by what the veteran coach termed “the best race of the night” by Fitzpatrick in the 600.

The Patriots will be back in action this evening at the local fieldhouse to host Danvers and will take on Winthrop next Tuesday during the school vacation week
