John ‘Chuck’ Coppola, 73
Founder of Coppola Construction, real estate developer, restaurateur

John “Chuck” Coppola of Ipswich, formerly of Revere, died on February 4. He was 73 years old.

Mr. Coppola was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He finished his enlistment as a drill sergeant for officers at the Quantico Va. Training Center. He started Coppola Construction Co., was a real estate developer and restaurateur. Mr. Coppola was also one of the original founders of the Metropolitan Bank and Trust in Melrose.

He was the beloved husband of Ginger (Frongillo); devoted father of Joseph Coppola and his wife, Lisa, of Middleton, Lisa McGhee and her husband, Patrick, of Danvers and Leane DelGaizo and her husband, Johnathan, of Topsfield; proud “Papa” of five loving grandchildren, John and Joseph Coppola, Francesco and Josephine DelGaizo and Sean McGhee; loving son of the late John and Edith (Contilli) Coppola; dear brother of Anna Teixiera of Winthrop, Marie Hubbard of Peabody and the late Anthony Coppola. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were by the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, Revere. The Lown Cardiovascular Group, particularly Dr. Thomas Grayboys, Dr. Brian Bilchik and Helene Glaser RN, provided Mr. Coppola with exceptional care and guidance through the years. Donald Sylvester
Revere resident

Donald J. Sylvester of Revere died on January 30.

He was the beloved husband of Mary M. (Anderson); brother of Janice Sylvester, Robert G., Joseph C. Sylvester all of Brockton, Richard T. of Carver, Kathryn Janiak of New Hampshire, Lawrence E., Louise C. Sylvester, the late John M. and Stephen C. Sylvester; brother in Law of Joseph Anderson and his wife, Ellen, of North Andover and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth “Bette” Mannone of Revere died on February 2.

She was the dear sister of the late Frank and Joseph Mannone and Anna Valentine; beloved aunt of Merrilee and Edward Sasso, John and Mary Mannone and Carol Mannone; great-aunt of Louis Caputo and his fiancŽe, Kelly Kopyt, Danielle Schrank, Ken and Eugene Wiswall, Christina and Scott Cranston and Michael Mannone; and the great-great aunt of Kody, Alexis, Geena, Ava, Joseph, Jennifer, Nola, Cole, Sienna, Leila and Lucia.

Salvatore Romano, 58
Revere resident

Salvatore Romano of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died suddenly on February 2. He was 58 years old.

He was the loving son of the late Salvatore and Virginia (Nardi) Romano; beloved father of Michael, Deanna and Victoria; dear brother of Michael and Steven Romano; cherished nephew of Ida Rizzo; and he is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Agnes Aluia
North End resident

Agnes B. Aluia of the North End died on February 3.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Marino) Aluia; loving cousin of Bernadette Dalton and her husband, James, and Pauline Varone, all of Revere, and Carmela Dalton and her husband, Richard, of Lynnfield; auntie to three nephews and two nieces and one great-nephew.

David Shankman, 76
Buyer for RH Macy’s in New York

David S. Shankman of Manchester-by-the-Sea, formerly New York, died on February 3 at Beverly Hospital. He was 76 years old.

Born in Bronx, New York, he was a graduate of City College in Manhattan. He worked at RH Macy’s as a buyer in New York prior to retirement. An avid lover of sports, music, politics, but most of all his family, he was a member of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Committee in Manchester for many years. He moved to Cape Ann 20 years ago to fulfill his dream of living there.

He was the beloved husband of the Elinor Shankman; devoted father of Edward Shankman and his wife, Miriam, Nancy Maniskas and her husband, Kevin, and Carol Mendoza and her husband, Ernesto; and the loving grandfather of Nicholas, Gordon, Julian, and Ezra.

Nicoletta (DiCarlo) Silveri of Nahant, formerly of Hyde Park, died recently. She was 81 years old.

The wife of the late Antonio Silveri, she was the mother of Mary Barletta and her husband, Leone, of Nahant, Donna Dandrow and her husband, Edward, of Revere and Anthony Silveri and his wife, Mary Beth, of Melville, NY; a loving Nonnie to her grandchildren, Melanie and Chris Marino of Nahant, Gaetano and Jennifer Barletta of Swampscott, Loredana, Antonio and Leone Barletta of Nahant, and Melissa and Jennifer Dandrow of Revere, Gina, Antonio, Alaina and John Silveri of New York; and her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Kaela Barletta, and Joseph Marino. She was also the sister of Rocco DiCarlo of Revere, Tomasso DiCarlo of Italy and the late Luna, Michele and Francesco DiCarlo; dear cousin of Josephine LaFalce of Nahant and aunt of many.

Mary (Mangino) Sciacca or Revere, formerly of East Boston, died in Las Vegas on January 31.

She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Sciacca, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage; loving mother of Deborah McCormack and her husband, Mark, of Las Vegas and the late Barbara Ann and Carol Jean Sciacca; dear sister of Rosemarie Della Croce and Florence Mazzio, both of Peabody, and the late John and Frank Mangino.
