Leo Joseph Scarlata, of Leo Joseph Scarlata, of Revere passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on August 15, 2026.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy in life was the time he spent with the people he loved.
For many years, he was the proud owner and operator of Quality Carpets in Revere, Massachusetts, where he made many lasting friendships throughout the years. His work brought him not only a career, but a lifetime of friendships and wonderful memories.
He had many passions and interests throughout his life. He loved music, especially Elvis, and enjoyed playing the guitar. He played football in high school and continued to enjoy watching football and basketball throughout his life. He also loved collecting die-cast cars and had a special appreciation for classic automobiles. Among the cars he owned, his cherry-red 1957 Chevy convertible held a particularly special place in his heart.
But more than anything, he loved spending time with his family. He was always telling jokes, making people laugh, and bringing smiles to those around him. His laughter, stories, and personality brought warmth and happiness to his family and friends. He had a way of making people feel welcome and creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his daughters, Gina Marie Teixeira of Hudson, NH, and Christina Marie Scarlata of Hudson, NH; his granddaughter, Alexandria Scarlata Teixeira, 32, of Nashua, NH; his grandson, Devin John Teixeira, 21, of Brookline, NH; and his great-granddaughter, Alyvia Teixeira, 12, of Nashua, NH.
He is also survived by his siblings, Camile and William McLaughlin of Billerica, Ines Baratta of Woburn and Joe and Sharon of Parrish, FL.
He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, including Billy and Lori McLaughlin of Derry, NH; Jackie and Lori McLaughlin of Billerica; Lea and Jay Cahill; John Baratta of Nashua, NH; Judy and Steven Tracy of Litchfield, NH; Joanne and Scott Vandevelde of Georgia; Julie Baratta of Woburn; Shawna and Joe Jarzabeck of Hampton, CT; Marissa and Mike Galvin of Billerica; and Joey and Sam of Parrish,FL.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rafaella and John Scarlata of Arlington, MA.
His family will remember him for the life he lived, the friendships he made, the music he loved, his love of Elvis, football and basketball and the classic cars he cherished.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, but the laughter, smiles, stories, and memories he gave his family will remain forever.
Rest peacefully, Dad. We love you and will miss you always.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23rd from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry Street in Hudson, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday August 24th at 10 a.m. in St. Kathryn Church, 4 Dracut Road in Hudson, NH. All are asked to please meet at church. Burial will be private.
