Lorenz Geis

Lorenz (Larry) Geis of N. Billerica passed peacefully on October 11.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rosemary (Rubbicco) Geis, both formerly of Revere; his daughters,

Denise and Stephen Richards of Billerica, Lisa M Geis of Georgetown, Teressa Geis and Eric Bodner of N. Weymouth, Rosemary K. and Jon Pouliot of Manchester, NH and a sister, Delores Barron of Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.

Lorenz grew up in Dickinson, North Dakota with six sisters and three brothers. He left to join the Navy and served on the USS Salem during the Korean War. On leave in Boston, he met Rosemary in Old Scollay Square and they were married in 1953. Lorenz attended the North Bennett Street school in Boston acquiring the skills to become a finish carpenter. He was happy to share these skills with family and friends throughout the years.

After retiring from the Balco Company in the Bank of Boston, Lorenz sought a creative outlet. He enjoyed painting classes at the Revere Senior Center for many years and left his family with a gallery worth of paintings they will cherish.

A private family service will be held and interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Memorial donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Joseph Esposito

Longtime Baker for Brandano’s Bakery in Revere and Royal Bakery of Cambridge

Joseph Esposito of Revere, formerly of Everett, passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 16.

Joe came to the U.S. as a teenager, initially settling in Everett before moving to Revere in the early 1990’s. Joe was a baker for many years, working his craft at Brandano’s Bakery in Revere and Royal Bakery of Cambridge. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the races at Suffolk Downs and meeting up with friends.

Born and raised in Siano, Salerno, Italy to the late Giovanni and Carmela (Riccio) Esposito, he was the beloved husband of Ursula (Barone), devoted father John Esposito and his wife, Bettina of Peabody, Ralph Esposito of Somerville, Carmela Esposito of Siano, Salerno, Italy, Fiore Esposito and his wife, Karissa of Methuen, Michael Esposito and his wife, Alexandra of Revere,  Joseph Esposito of Revere, Victor DAmore and his wife, Angela of Peabody, and the late Mario Damore; dear brother of Anna Esposito of Salerno, Italy, Grace Botta of Florida and the late Ralph Esposito. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St, Revere on Friday, October 21 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish (Revere) at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Robert Crossley, Jr.

He Will Be Remembered as a Leader Who Marched to the Beat of His Own Drum

Robert L. Crossley, Jr, 54, of West Roxbury, passed away on Thursday, October 13.

Born and raised in Lynn, the son of Robert L. Crossley and Elizabeth (Burns) Crossley and the step-son of William Dixon, he had lived in Chelsea and Revere and most recently in West Roxbury.

Bob worked as a professional painter for many years.  He loved baseball and enjoyed good food.  He was involved with youth sports and had coached Chelsea Little League.  In his younger years, he was a member of the Highlanders Street Hockey League in Lynn.

Bob was a great person with a great sense of humor and he wore his heart on his sleeve.  He was always willing to help anyone, never asking for anything in return.  He will be remembered as a leader who marched to the beat of his own drum and he always said what was on his mind.

In addition to his parents and step-father, he is survived by his longtime companion, Chianta Mack; his children, Troy Crossley and Tyra Crossley; his siblings, Michael Crossley, Kerry Crossley and Virginia Crossley Holmes and her husband, Andy as well as several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn, with a funeral service beginning at 3 p.m.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Ignatius “Sonny” LaBella

May 9, 1930 – October 15, 2022

On Saturday, October 15, Ignatius “Sonny” LaBella passed away peacefully at The Chelsea’s Soldier’s Home in Chelsea.  Born in Everett, the son of the late Lucy (Dimino) and Anthony LaBella, he was predeceased by his brother, Anthony LaBella and sister, Sister Mary Rose LaBella.  He leaves behind his sisters, Jacqueline Hazel of Revere and Angela Baratta and her husband, Ronald Baratta of Everett and many nieces and nephews.

Sonny attended BC High and was in his first year at Boston College when he was drafted for the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged and began a 25 year career with the US Post Office as a clerk.

Sonny loved the simple life.  He was humble in every way.  He loved learning and had many passions including reading, teaching himself languages, playing music, exercising and most importantly, living his faith in Catholicism.  He was steadfast in his devotion to God and always encouraged everyone he came in contact with to attend church.

He loved his family very much including his beloved sister, Jackie who was his biggest advocate, friend and caretaker.  Sonny was an extraordinarily kind and loving soul.

Visiting hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, October 24 at St. Michael’s Chapel at The Soldiers Home in Chelsea followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Richard Tewksbury

He Was a Friend to All

Richard O. Tewksbury of Revere and formerly of Winthrop passed away suddenly at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on October 15. He was 40 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved son of Felicia (Simione) and Richard E. Tewksbury, he previously worked as a Sales Manager for Mcgee Motor Cars and was a proud graduate of the NADA Dealer Academy. He was also a member of the Winthrop Yacht Club.

He was an avid lover of all types of music and going to concerts. He was also a huge Boston sports fan.

There was never a room that his big smile and spirit wouldn’t light up. He was a friend to all.

He was the loving father of Olivia M. Tewksbury and the dear brother of Joseph R. Tewksbury of Revere. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Mackenzie Coles and his girlfriend, Kellie Long.

The funeral will be conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Thursday, October 20 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with the interment in Winthrop Cemetery.

John “Jack” Donahue

Graduate of RHS, Class of 1975

Funeral Services were held on Friday, October 14        in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals for John P. “Jack” Donahue, 65, who died on Monday, October 10 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a long illness.

Jack was a lifelong Revere resident who was educated in Revere Public Schools. During high

school, Jack was a standout on the Revere High School Track Team. A graduate of

Revere High School, Class of 1975, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for five years and eleven months. During his military service, Jack served overseas in Germany and he was discharged, as a Specialist 4th Class. Jack returned home to Revere and began to drive for a living. For many years, he drove a Taxi for the Green Cab Company.

Unfortunately, Jack’s health began to decline, and he was forced to stop working.

For the past seven years, Jack came back into the life of his high school sweetheart, Sandra L. (Long) Davis. His past seven years have been filled with much happiness and contentment, especially with his declining health, he had his Sandy by his side.

The beloved son of the late James J. and Helen (Eismonth) Donahue, he was the cherished brother of Ann Schulchter of Portland, OR, Joseph D. Donahue and his wife, Cherie of Doswell, VA, the late James Donahue and his wife, Patricia Donahue, the late Mary Fitzpatrick and the late Helen Doucette. He was the loving companion of Sandra L. Davis of Revere with whom he made his home. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Salvatore Simili

Retired Painter

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, October 21 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) Revere for Salvatore Simili, 90, who died at the CHA – Everett Hospital, with his family by his side, following a brief illness.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 133 Beach St., Revere at 11 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Salvatore was born in Mineo, Sicily, Italy where he was raised and educated.

He married Josephine (Cardello) in 1956 and was the proud father of his two daughters. In 1966, they traveled from Italy to the United States, settling in Revere.

When Salvatore arrived in the United States, he began working at Schraffts Candy Co. in Charlestown before starting his own painting business, where he worked very hard and diligently to provide for his family. He later worked in the produce department in Cerratani’s for several years before retiring, almost 30 years ago, at the age of 60.

He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The beloved husband of 53 years of the late Josephine (Cardello) Simili, he was the loving father of Anna B. Kulakowski and her husband, Kerry C. of Lynnfield and Maria G. Simili – Croteau and her husband, John of Danvers; cherished grandfather of Sandra L. Campbell and her husband Maj. Matthew Campbell, U.S. Army National Guard of Peabody and Caitlyn K. Kohler and her husband, Richie of Sutton, MA; adored great grandfather of Ava E. Campbell, James T. Campbell and Emma O. Campbell; dear brother of Mario and Iris Simili, Pina Simili, Pippo Simili, all of Italy and the late Carmela Bucchieri. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
