The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) North Shore Chapter 479 invites active and retired Federal employees to its end-of-season celebration Wednesday June 1, beginning at 12 noon in the Lighthouse Room of the Danversport Yacht Club, 161 Elliott St., Danvers. The event includes a luncheon and musical entertainment. Cost is $34 per person. RSVP no later than May 25. TRAINING SERIES FOR ALZHEIMER’S CAREGIVERS
Starting this month, Mystic Valley Elder Services will host a free, three-part training series for Alzheimer’s Caregivers. With a special focus on caring for a loved one living with middle-stage Alzheimer’s disease, caregivers will hear from experts in the field on how to develop strategies to keep their loved ones comfortable and safe.
“We are pleased to offer this important resource for those caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s disease,†said Kathy Learned, Mystic Valley Elder Services’ Family Caregiver Support Coordinator. “The training series will include information on understanding memory loss, practical caregiving tips and strategies, financial and legal issues, as well as an overview of available community resources.â€
The three-part workshop will take place at the main headquarters of Mystic Valley Elder Services, 300 Commercial St., #19, in Malden. CELLA FAMILY FOUNDATION ANNUAL GRANTS ANNOUNCED,
The Silvio Cella Family Foundation announced the 2016 recipients of its annual grant program, providing high school football teams in Massachusetts funding to help improve playing conditions, increase player safety and participation, purchase needed equipment, and build teamwork, pride and confidence. Annually, four high school football programs are selected to each receive a $3,000 grant to help players and coaches be successful on the field and prepare student-athletes for college, careers and family. Since established in 2010, the Silvio Cella Family Foundation has donated over $75,000 to high school football programs throughout Massachusetts.
The 2016 recipients of the Silvio Cella Family Foundation grants are:
- North: Brighton High School – Coach Randolph Abraham
- South: Milton High School – Coach Steve Dembowski
- Central: Oxford High School – Coach Jeff Clarkson
- West: Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School — Coach Chris Pope
“This much needed grant money will help these football programs to improve player safety and upgrade facilities and equipment, and build a sense of teamwork and community in these schools,†said Michael Cella, president, Silvio Cella Family Foundation. “We are honored to carry on my Dad’s legacy and support high school football in Massachusetts.â€
Each school receives $3,000 from the Silvio Cella Family Foundation, to be used to support their football programs, per MIAA (Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association) guidelines.
