Second Annual Revere Citywide Fitness Challenge Set for Late April

Revere on the Move and Millions of Muscles Fitness are partnering once again with fitness organizations across Revere to organize the 2nd Annual City of Revere Fitness Challenge.

Last year the challenge had more than 300 participants and the organizing team is hoping to match and/or exceed that number this year. The Fitness Challenge is a free, six-week event incorporating fitness businesses and organizations throughout the City of Revere. The event will begin on April 26th, 27th, and 28th with weigh-ins

Classes will begin on Monday, April 29th.

There will be three overall winners based on weight loss, inches, and body fat. Participants will weigh-in at the beginning and then at the end of the event. All the activities will be open to residents of all ages and fitness levels, with some activities especially designed for seniors. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent at Challenge events.

“I am extremely excited for the 2nd Annual fitness challenge,” said Jodi Reath, founder of Millions of Muscles. “Last year showed that when a community comes together, they can be unstoppable. I can’t wait to see the amazing transformations. This event proves that you will never regret doing something good for yourself. I know this year will be just as successful as the last, and everything that we’ve been working so hard to organize will prove that you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”

The organizations participating in the Challenge this year are Millions of Muscles Fitness, Revere on the Move, Revere Karate Academy, Revere Recreation Department, Zumba with Vanessa Fabro, Planet Fitness, Strength Discover, Hot Yoga Flow, Greater Boston Fitness, Sheila Rosanio School of Dance, Boston Fight Center, and the Revere Senior Center.

Classes and activities will include, Family Boot Camp, Urban Trail Walks, Cardio Kickboxing, Stadium Walks, Zumba, Circuit Training, Yoga, and gymnastics.

Activities will run nearly every day of the week during the six-week period. The calendar of events will be available online at: www.facebook.com/reverefitchallenge. Residents can pre-register for the Challenge by sending an email to [email protected] or calling 339-226-1283.

“I am so excited to see that this event is going into its second year,” said Mayor Dan Rizzo. “The Challenge helps to bring the community together in a healthy and positive way. A big thank you goes out to all of the fitness organizations across the city that are volunteering their time and energy in order to make the 2nd Annual Revere City-Wide Fitness Challenge a success.”
