PARKING SPOT SCARE
One Hillside Avenue man is facing serious charges after threatening a family going to church on Sunday morning with a firearm and then screaming racial slurs at them.
The victim told police that just after noon, he and his two kids were headed to church at Immaculate Conception Church and looking for a parking spot. As they began to back into a spot near the church, a pedestrian became enraged that the father had backed up near him.
The man screamed racial slurs at the man and his kids and finally pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the father’s face.
With the family literally scared to death, the man pulled the firearm back and fled towards Winthrop Avenue.
Police responded to the scene immediately and eventually found the suspect walking nearby. The firearm was found in his backpack and was revealed to be a replica pellet gun.
Officers indicated that the man has a long history with the police and several open cases.
Robert Zucchari, 19, of 20 Hillside Ave., was charged with civil rights violations, assault with a dangerous weapon, and threatening to commit a crime.
EGG ON HIS FACE
One Essex Street man is facing civil rights charges after having a major jam with his neighbor and then, later, allegedly egging her car.
Police were called to the residence around 2 a.m. Sunday when an upstairs neighbor and downstairs neighbor got into a major argument.
Both were enraged, but police were able to calm the situation.
However, around 5:30 a.m., the upstairs neighbor phoned police again because her downstairs neighbor was allegedly throwing eggs at her car and yelling racial slurs at her.
Police summonsed the man to Chelsea District Court for a hearing on charges of harassment, witness intimidation, civil rights violations and vandalism.
MAJOR CHASE IN ROUGHAN’S POINT
A Dorchester man led police on a high-speed chase last Monday night, Nov. 19th, that ended in a K-9 search and a huge police response at Roughan’s Point.
The man was apparently driving at a high rate of speed when officers observed him on Bennington Street. The man tried to evade police by driving at a high rate of speed down Winthrop Avenue and then turning onto Winthrop Parkway. When he couldn’t make the turn, he smashed into the police cruiser and continued to flee.
After flying into the Roughan’s Point area, the man finally abandoned the car and fled on foot.
Officers lost sight of the man and called in the State Police and a K-9 unit to search him out. They also phoned the owner of the car, who was the fleeing man’s father. Eventually, the father was able to get the suspect to turn himself into police.
Ironically enough, it was the second call on the job for new officer Gina Murray. Welcome to the job.
Gustavo Reyes, 19, of Dorchester, was charged with failing to slow, speeding, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, operating with a suspended license (subsequent offense), two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and three counts of failing to stop/yield.
LICENSE COMMISSION TO HEAR FIRE DETAILS
The Revere License Commission will hear details of a fire at Plaza Garibaldi on Wednesday night, Nov. 21st, where those in the club were apparently not forthcoming with firefighters about a small fire that had ignited in the bar while patrons were inside.
Fire Chief Gene Doherty said firefighters were called to the scene by an alarm around 11:30 p.m. and found the place packed.
No one on scene was forthcoming about any fire in the establishment and firefighters could not immediately find the fire.
However, after a bit of poking around, they found that there had been a fire in a storage closet that had been put out by a fire extinguisher. The fire had also spread to the ceiling.
“Someone had used an extinguisher on it and didn’t tell the Fire Department,†Doherty said. “They had to know it happened and didn’t want to the Fire Department.â€
The Fire Department closed down the establishment, and apparently there are several licensing issues to work out – including no valid certificate of occupancy.
INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST
Revere Police closed the case on an unarmed robbery of a local Dunkin’ Donuts from last June this past week.
After locating an Everett man identified on surveillance video, officers arrested the man at the Police Station on Monday, Nov. 19th.
Russ Luciano, 25, of Everett, was charged with unarmed robbery.
NORTH SHORE ROAD FIRE
An electrical malfunction is believed to be the cause of a bizarre fire at a North Shore Road home Saturday afternoon that burnt a car parked in a garage.
While the homeowner slept on the third floor, an electrical fire ignited in the garage area.
Firefighters responded to the home at 1695 North Shore Rd., and found the garage and a car inside to have significant damage. Dep. Chief Glenn Rich and his crew quickly put out the fire.
A total of around $20,000 in damages were reported.
TAXI CAB GETS JUSTICE
Around 1:30 a.m. last Monday, Nov. 19th, a cab driver on Bell Circle felt the rear of his cab get struck.
However, the driver of the offending vehicle was not interested in sticking around.
Though the damage was minor, the cab driver followed the car and didn’t let it get away.
It eventually stopped at 46 Arcadia St. and the cabbie called police.
Police knocked at the door and no one responded. The car had also been stolen, they learned.
Eventually, an intoxicated man approached officers and said it was his girlfriend’s car, but he hadn’t driven it.
Officers proceeded to tow the car, but the drunken man tried to physically block the process.
He was eventually arrested.

Sheila Mainero, 45, of Boston, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, leaving the scene of an accident after causing property damage, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and four counts of illegal possession of a Class E controlled narcotic substance.
