Get out and Vote

Suffolk County voters have a primary to vote in on Thursday.

Revere voters will be asked to cast votes in several races in this primary.

In the Register of Probate contest, voters are being asked to choose between Boston City Councillor Sal LaMattina and Court employee Patty Campatelli.

Both are East Boston residents.

LaMattina is the better known of the two who have been actively campaigning for the position.

LaMattina brings to the table a nearly lifelong adult career in government for the city of Boston.

Campatelli has worked in the court system for more than two decades.

In the race for Criminal Clerk of the Superior Court incumbent Maura Hennigan is facing former assistant clerk Robert Dello Russo.

For Dello Russo, it is his second challenge for the position.

Both Hennigan and Dello Russo have been waging tough campaigns against one another, with accusations shared between them counting for the bulk of their public effort.

Hennigan has been dogged by Ethics questions. She claims Dello Russo was an unqualified patronage hire.

Both candidates understand the requirements of the job and are linked by their long-term relationship with the office.

Also running for re-election is District 6 Governor’s Councillor Terrence Kennedy who is facing a challenge from Francis “Chip” Flaherty. Both men are lawyers. Kennedy is an Everett lawyer. Flaherty is from Medford.

Kennedy has been a highly visible candidate and is using incumbency to its full benefit while Flaherty has been making a solid effort to gain name recognition for this position, which is among the most obscure in Massachusetts.

Voters with an interest in the system should get out and vote on Thursday.
