Mayor Dan Rizzo has re-appointed Fire Chief Gene Doherty as the city’s director of Emergency Management – a position he is eminently qualified to hold.
It is likely there is no one serving in municipal government here more capable of running such an office of importance than Doherty.
He is smart about what he does. He knows his stuff as the Revere Fire Chief and he is a font of information about how this city must best protect itself against the possibility of a disaster.
Revere is not free of such possibilities and this city is sometimes only steps or moments away from a real disaster.
The good thing about having Doherty as the head of Emergency Management is that he knows how to judge the severity of a disaster and he knows as well how to meet their demands.
