Boys Tennis Shuts out Lynn English

The Revere High boys tennis team racked up another victory with a 5-0 triumph over Lynn English last week. Coach Mike Flynn’s Patriots now stand at 4-4 on the season as they approach the final two weeks of their schedule in hopes of securing a berth in the post season state tourney which requires a .500 record.

First singles Malak Mossadek jump started Revere to the victory with an easy 6-0, 6-1 triumph over his English counterpart. Mladen Pepic, playing at second singles, likewise cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win in his match. Mladen now sports a sterling 6-1 personal record this season.

Nick Mucci made it a sweep of the singles matches with a 6-2, 6-3 win.

In the doubles pairings, the first doubles tandem of Joseph Tran and Pariwat Chaiwong were winners by a margin of 6-3, 7-5, while the second doubles duo of Nick Tran and Soun Lee dispatched their English rivals 6-1, 6-2.

“We played well and we’re improving every week,” said Flynn. “We’re coming into the final stretch and we’ll have to be at our best if we want to make the tourney.”

Flynn and his crew are scheduled to play six matches in a nine day period this week and next, weather permitting. They were set to take on St. Mary’s of Lynn this past Monday, Salem yesterday (Tuesday), Winthrop tomorrow, Lynn Classical Friday, Danvers next Monday, and Marblehead next Tuesday.
