Former mayor and now Councilor-at-Large Robert Haas is apparently interested in becoming the city clerk. Many of his colleagues on the council are said to be leaning toward Haas this week.
For the record, we believe Haas would make a competent and businesslike city clerk and that he has the potential of maintaining the integrity of the office as former City Clerk John Henry did for so many years prior to his retirement last week.
And we point out again, the next city clerk is the product exclusively of six votes of the City Council.
